Every meaningful journey begins with a single conversation.
For the Cape Caddy Association, that conversation was sparked by a shared belief that golf caddies deserve greater recognition, opportunity, and support—and by the lasting legacy of a man whose generosity touched many lives.
Following the tragic passing of Roger Brijlal, a respected businessman, passionate golfer and devoted supporter of golf caddies, Ashley Palm reached out to fellow Executive Committee members with a vision to create something meaningful in Roger’s memory. Rather than allowing Roger’s compassion and commitment to be forgotten, the idea was to establish an organisation that would continue the work he cared so deeply about.
From those early discussions, the Cape Caddy Association was born.
The Association has been created to unite golf caddies across the Western Cape provide members with opportunities for training, mentorship, personal development, and improved wellbeing. It is built on the belief that caddies are far more than bag carriers—they are trusted partners in the game of golf, bringing knowledge, experience, and dedication to every round.
While the Association looks firmly towards the future, it will always remember the values that inspired its formation: kindness, dignity, respect, and service to others.
The Executive Committee is committed to building an organisation that not only represents caddies but creates lasting opportunities for them, their families, and future generations.
This website marks the beginning of that journey.
As we continue to grow, we look forward to welcoming new members, building partnerships with golf clubs and sponsors, and working together to elevate the profession of caddying throughout the Western Cape.
We invite you to follow our journey, support our vision and become part of a legacy that continues to make a difference—one round, one caddy and one opportunity at a time.
